Why Should Amazon Buy Another Retailer?

As we head into the busiest shopping season of the year, be prepared for more and more of why Amazon should buy this company or that company. While just about anyone could build a case for why Amazon should buy up cheap retail companies such as Kohl's, I think that the analysis in this piece misses the mark on brands. Research done by NYU Stern Professor Scott Galloway's L2 company indicates that brands are becoming less irrelevant so who really cares what brands Kohl's has?Interestingly enough, Galloway has suggested that Amazon take a swing at buying Nordstrom on the thesis that Amazon needs to penetrate the high end retailer to get inside of our closet since it is already inside of our refrigerators (Whole Foods) and almost everywhere else in our home with Alexa.Amazon could buy Kohl's with 'pocket change': Jan Kniffen from CNBC.
