Are You Kicking the "Can" Down the Road?

Who is not busy these days? I haven't met a parent yet with multiple kids who aren't over-prioritized and over-scheduled.

The hardest step in any project, especially financial planning, is the first step: just getting started!

Who wakes up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, thinking I must have a financial plan? No one.

Care About Your Futureself Today

However, how often have you told your spouse, partner, or significant other that we should put our estate plan together, set up or save more in the kids' 529 accounts, or determine how to save enough for the big family vacation next year?

None of these priorities will be detrimental if you don't tackle them today, but what about in 1 year, 3 years, or 5 years?

It is incredibly easy for parents to put off these important decisions for another day until it is too late between demanding careers, kids' activities, and other family responsibilities.

Help Yourself

But if you truly want to do something to help protect and support your family now and into the future, you take the first step today to stop kicking the "financial can" down the road.

So, ask friends or family you trust if they have an advisor they would recommend you meet with. Or the advisor on social media that you have been following for months or years schedule an initial meeting. Or the podcast you listen to finally strikes a cord to pick up the phone and learn more about how an advisor can help.

With four young kids of my own, I get it. Getting on the same page with your spouse or partner, I get that too. But I also know that life will continue to fly by, and before you know it, you will regret not tackling the priorities you talked about years ago today.
